A while back I was introduced to the wine industry by reconnecting with a long-lost high school friend. She had forsaken her previous occupation after findinag her passion to be wine. She currently manages various wine related websites with her partner in crime and technical support guru, 406. One of the first of these was the super funky and accessible spitorswallow.co.za where you get to rate and review winefarms and estates from around South Africa. A very unconditional approach to the industry; she refused to bend to their rules and she opened up debate through this website for everyone to take part. And ‘everyone’ being the consumer whom, at the end of the day, is their biggest shareholder, which is only right, right?
As mentioned, from here my interest sprouted and grew into the vine it is today. I started rating winefarms and reviewed them and at the same time a unique style of writing emerged. For months Madame de Wyn prompted, no, harassed me to start writing a blog and when our White Stick Sips committee was formed, it provided the perfect foundation to start spewing out those crazy puns, disturbing similes and tantalising depictions.
I’m at the start of this wonderful journey of sharing my ideas with you, so please feel free to do the same and let me know yours. You will notice that I do not stick to the rules so please do not suggest that I attend blog workshops or study wine or whatever. As soon as you restrict thinking and expression, you restrict creativity and liberty.
